Good Morning Guardians and Vault Hunters alike,

I know I'm late to the grind this week. For that, I apologize, but not all is bad though. Last week I concluded the final design concept for my logo.

You can see it here:

I really liked the final design, and am really proud of myself for being able to pull through and come up with a design that both (1) Specifies what I like to do and talk about (2) The comprehension of this logo is quite simple, even without context of the blog.

However this week we are doing things a little different here at the OVBBlog. This week we kinda went old school. Also, it so happened to be the first time I had ever heard of a Zine.

However this week we are doing things a little different here at the OVBBlog. This week we kinda went old school. Also, it so happened to be the first time I had ever heard of a Zine. It's a tiny booklet, that you yourself can create, and it usually depicts a miniature narrative.

This was my take on the project, I have yet to complete the final product in InDesign. It has been a greater challenge for me as well, as I will be turning it in after the deadline, but I feel like I can get a more complete finished product done today.

Anyways, this was my release for this week. Being able to finish working on two somewhat challenging creative projects has been a great confidence boost!

Update:

I wanted to discuss the difficulties and stress that have been associated with me wanted to create the Zine assignment we had due this past Monday. Again, I've had a hard time making a creative effort to being happy with what I am producing, and feeling like I need to do more and more to go above and beyond.

Even being completely new to InDesign and overall graphic design in general, I keep finding it to be more and more difficult to be accepting of works that I create, especially when using specific software for the first time. There is this incessant need to produce the best material possible, at all times. And realistically, that is simply not going to happen week 4 of this class.

As much as I hate the idea of struggling, this week has been a reflective one for me as I continue trying to produce material that I am happy with, and material that expresses a creative goal that I am trying to reach. Anyways, thanks for reading this update, despite the more negative tone of it, I am looking forward to the work in the class and will continue to work hard at it.

Signing off for now E-bois and E-girls,

David, cool to see that you've found what you are truly looking for in the logo, and the zine you have created. I also like to look at how people's blogs have been changed since week 1, and I do see that yours has not changed much, but that's a good thing, as it hasn't had to. This format works so well, and I think it is imperative that you try to transfer some of the design elements of the blog over to your projects in the multimodal campaign. I think it would add the cherry on top of an already very good cake, so to speak.

Hi, David.

Both your title and address to the “e-bois” and “e-girls” had me cracking up as I read through your post and update for this week.

From the work that I have seen from you in this class, it doesn’t appear as though you are struggling at all! You undertook a pretty great task in using wix to create this blog, and in both design and the content of your posts it seems to be going pretty well for you.

“You are your biggest critic”—the sentiment applies to everyone. You should be proud of the work you’re putting in, and instead of denigrating yourself for not meeting self-imposed expectations, work toward further bettering the quality content you’re already putting…
